Kootenays high school remains closed following security threat

A high school in the Kootenays is closed again today, three days after an unknown security threat and police are still not saying why.

Mount Sentinel Secondary in South Slocan was closed Friday and all weekend grad activities were called off.

The Ministry of Children and Families is also involved in the investigation.

Officials hope to reopen the school tomorrow but the cancellations didn’t stop the students from holding their own celebrations with their families on Saturday.

Mount Sentinel is a Grade 7-12 school 20 kilometres west of Nelson, with an enrollment of 290 students, approximately 55 of whom are in Grade 12.
