Prince Albert Fire Department lifts minivan off trapped senior

Firefighters had to use air bags to free an elderly woman pinned underneath a minivan in Prince Albert, Sask.

Crews were called out to the Good Shepherd Villas, a seniors complex in the 1400-block of 15th Avenue East, at around 10:40 a.m. CT on Sunday.

They arrived to find the 84-year-old woman trapped under the vehicle by the driver door, with the tire between her legs, pressing on her.

It took only a few minutes for firefighters to slowly lift the vehicle off her using two air bags, according to Prince Albert Fire Department officials.

Parkland Ambulance said the woman suffered serious injuries. She was taken by ambulance to hospital and is receiving care.

Prince Albert police are investigating how she wound up underneath the vehicle.
