People in search of wheelchair-accessible picnic tables this summer in Halifax will be in luck.
The Downtown Halifax Business Commission has added three new, brightly painted wheelchair-accessible picnic tables across the city.
The tables are located at Purdy’s Wharf, along the waterfront and at the corner of Salter and Hollis streets.
The coloured tables come after HRM provided several accessible picnic tables in Grand Parade last year.
“Everyone should have an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors sitting at our picnic tables throughout the downtown,” DHBC Executive Director Paul MacKinnon said in a statement.
In addition to the accessible tables, the commission has placed 28 coloured picnic tables at seven locations around the city. Two of the tables at Salter and Hollis Street have umbrellas for shade.
The picnic tables will be available to the public for the rest of the summer until mid-late October.
