2 more men charged with first-degree murder in Wayne Rattray death

Two more men have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Wayne Rattray of Tilley, N.B.

Twenty-seven-year-old Luke Frank Ellick of Three Brooks was arrested on Monday, June 20.

James Andrew Melanson, 21, originally from Moncton, was already in custody for an unrelated matter when he was charged.

RCMP also charged 28-year-old Kurt Andrew Hudnut, of Moncton with first-degree murder on June 14.

Rattray, 59, was reported missing on March 2. Fire crews responded to Rattray’s home, completely engulfed in flames later that day. On March 7, his truck was found burned just off Highway 109 in Three Brooks, about 175 kilometres from his home.

Rattray’s remains were found on an island in the Renous River on May 21.

RCMP have not released the cause of death, and say the investigation is ongoing.

Hudnut is scheduled to appear in court again on July 8. Ellick is set to return to court on July 18. A date has not been set for when Melanson is to reappear.
