City of Dorval unveils unique mountain bike experience

DORVAL – The city of Dorval officially opened its brand new bike trail Saturday, offering cyclists a fun and exciting way to challenge themselves.

At over 100 meters in length, Surrey Trail consists of slopes and bumps, as well as an angled wall and ramps.

Various types of bicycles can be used on the trail including BMX and mountain bikes, giving users the feel of an off-road experience without the associated risks.

Surrey Trail is considered to be one of the few in Canada to offer this unique bike trail.

“We aim at encouraging physical activity among all age groups, especially through fun and exciting projects such as this one,” said Dorval Mayor Edgar Rouleau.

The trail will be open to anyone over 8 years old from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m year-round. Users must wear protective equipment.

It is located behind the Surrey Aquatic and Community Centre.

The budget for Surrey Trail was $35,000 and construction began last fall.
