The Calgary police and the Calgary Police Foundation have received numerous calls about rude and aggressive telemarketers, soliciting funds for youth activities.
In a statement, both organizations said they never contact the public by phone to raise money.
The Calgary Police Foundation is a not-for-profit which raises money for youth programs that aim to keep kids safe from crime through education, prevention and early intervention.
Here are a few things to keep in mind should you get a phone call from someone claiming to be with Calgary police or the Calgary Police Foundation.
The foundation:
- never employs telemarketers to solicit money
- never asks for your credit card over the phone
- never engages in rude, aggressive, or confrontational behaviour
- always adheres to a very friendly and professional code of conduct
- always encourages you to contact us with any questions about fundraising initiatives or our programs.
