Royals to visit Regina next week, public invited to provide ‘Saskatchewan welcome’

The Earl and Countess of Wessex will soon be making an official two-day visit to Regina.

The trip follows a stop in Manitoba on June 22.

Price Edward and his wife, Sophie, will arrive at the Regina International Airport on Wednesday afternoon. They will then take in the Globe Theatre’s 50th Anniversary Gala.

On June 23, Prince William’s aunt and uncle will go to the RCMP Heritage Centre for a photo-op, then will stop at Government House for a walkabout on Ceremonial Drive at 2 p.m.

The public is welcomed to join the earl and countess at Government House.

This is the countess’ first official visit to Saskatchewan. Prince Edward has been to the province before.

“Our province and its people have welcomed many members of the royal family over the years, and our connection to Canada’s sovereign remains strong,” Premier Brad Wall said in a statement.

“On behalf of the people of Saskatchewan, welcome to the Earl and Countess of Wessex on this, her very first visit to our province.”
