WINNIPEG — Two months after he was elected premier, Brian Pallister’s approval rating appears strong among Manitobans, according to a new Mainstreet Research/Postmedia poll.

When it comes to Pallister’s job performance as premier, 54 per cent approve of the job he is doing so far, 33 per cent disapprove and 13 per cent aren’t sure.

“These numbers are what you would expect with a new government, but even so, these are impressive numbers for the PCs,” said Quito Maggi, President of Mainstreet Research. “While there isn’t an election taking place tomorrow we’ll be continuing to track public support for the government and its initiatives,”
he added.
Manitobans were asked if the province should delay reducing the PST until the budget is balanced. The poll found 32 per cent support a delay, while 45 per cent said no delay is necessary. Meanwhile another 51 per cent of Manitobans said any major future tax hikes should be put to a vote.
The poll had a margin of error of +/-2.81%.
