Free outdoor movies in Stanley Park are back this summer, and the crowd-pleasing lineup has just been announced.
Outdoor films have been a Stanley Park summer tradition since 2010, and every summer the expansive lawn welcomes crowds of up to 5,000 of all ages to enjoy some of the biggest blockbusters of today and decades past.
This year’s Evo Summer Cinema Series will light up the big screen each Tuesday night from July 5 to August 23 with films ranging from The Little Mermaid to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This summer’s lineup also plays homage to two of the entertainment world’s most recent fallen stars, David Bowie and Prince, with Labyrinth and Purple Rain.
As always, the screenings are free and begin just after sunset. Audiences are advised to bring their own blankets and chairs, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Anyone looking for a more VIP experience can purchase a reserved seat in the Gold Circle VIP Seating Zone for $22 or a Dinner & A Movie Package, including a three-course meal and a VIP reserved seat, for $33.
Unlike the last few years, the Tuesday night movies in Stanley Park will not be complemented by free Thursday night outdoor movies at the north end of Canada Place. Due to refurbishment happening at Canada Place from July through December, there will be no Waterfront Cinema in 2016.
