Air China flight makes emergency landing in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG – An Air China flight with nearly 300 people on board was forced to make an emergency landing at Winnipeg’s airport.

The Boeing 777 was on its way from Washington to Beijing when it encountered engine trouble on Saturday evening.

A Winnipeg Airport Authority spokesperson said that a preliminary report indicated one of the plane’s engines had to be shut down before it landed.

The plane landed with no problems and no one was hurt.

The passengers and crew were put up in hotels for the night.

Air China sent another plane to Winnipeg to pick up the passengers and crew and take them to Beijing.

It was expected to depart from Winnipeg by Sunday evening.
