KELOWNA – A Kelowna man has admitted his involvement in a brazen gangland murder in the city in the summer of 2011.
Red Scorpion gangster, Jonathan Bacon, was gunned down in a hail of automatic weapon fire outside the front entrance of the Grand Hotel.
Three other people were injured when their vehicle was sprayed with bullets.
The victims include Larry Amero, a member of the Hells Angels, and James Riach with the Independent Soldiers.
Shane Timothy Dankoski, 31, pleaded guilty in January in New Westminster Supreme Court to participating or contributing to an activity of a criminal organization.
“The activity was particularized as enhancing the ability of the criminal organization to commit the murder of Jonathan Bacon and the attempted murder of James Riach, Larry Amero, Leah Hadden Watts and Lindsay Black,” says Criminal Justice Branch spokesperson Dan McLaughlin.
Dankoski was sentenced to two years imprisonment.
Police did not inform the public about his guilty plea and sentencing.
In the past two years, Dankoski has been charged with numerous offenses including assault, theft and illegally possessing a firearm.
Those charges were dropped in January court appearances.
