A 23-year-old man faces charges after police say he attempted to abduct a woman on a walking trail in a park north of Toronto.
Ontario Provincial Police responded to the alleged attempted abduction at about 6 a.m. Friday in Riverdale Park in the town of New Tecumseth, Ont., about an hour north of Toronto.

The woman was walking along a trail in the park when police said an unknown man approached her and attempted to abduct her.

Police said an altercation broke out and the woman managed to escape and report the incident to police.
Officers patrolled the area and arrested Lawrence Stephenson, 23, of no fixed address. He has since been charged with forcible confinement and assault.
