Police say a man driving a green, older model SUV picked up a woman on Windmill Road in Dartmouth around 4:18 p.m.

They had an argument, and the woman demanded he stop the vehicle and let her out.

He refused, and continued to fasten her seat belt, grabbing her arms and legs as she made repeated attempts get out.

Police say the woman finally managed to escape when the vehicle stopped near Howe Street and Windmill Road and the man drove away.

Police arrested the man a short time later at his home.

Hani is scheduled to appear in court Friday on charges of forcible confinement, assault and communicating for the purpose of obtaining sexual services.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Halifax Regional Police at 902-490-5020 or by contacting CrimeStoppers online or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
