Two Vancouver Police officers are being applauded for diving into Burrard Inlet to rescue a man in the water.

Bystanders cheered as the officers got the man into a police boat.

The incident happened Wednesday afternoon, around 3 p.m., near the Stanley Park end of the Lions Gate Bridge.

A tweet from Cst. Lee Marten of the VPD says the man was swimming and was in distress. He was fully clothed at the time and was very cold and a little confused when he was rescued. He was conscious and breathing, however.

The man’s condition is not known at this time.
