Coquitlam RCMP are asking for the public’s help after a Port Coquitlam teen was hit by a car while riding his skateboard last week.

It happened last Monday at around 3:30 p.m. in the intersection of Coquitlam Avenue and Vincent Street in Port Coquitlam.

The 16-year-old was taken to hospital with minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery, but police are now trying to find the driver who fled the scene immediately.

They are looking for a red four-door sedan with an “N” decal on the rear.

Investigators say there’s no justifiable reason to leave a person lying in the middle of the street after hitting them with a car, and if the victim had not been wearing his helmet, his injuries would have been life-threatening.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coquitlam RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
