Environment Canada issued a weather advisory Monday as conditions may be favourable for funnel clouds in southwest Saskatchewan. A low pressure system spinning over the area will lead to the development of scattered showers and thunderstorms late Monday morning and into the afternoon.
As these showers and thunderstorms develop, the agency said conditions will be favourable for funnel clouds.

These types of funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation and normally aren’t a danger near the ground. However, there is a chance that this rotation could intensify and become a weak landspout tornado.
Environment Canada is urging residents to treat any funnel cloud sighting seriously and to take shelter if one should develop nearby.
The threat of funnel clouds will decrease later Monday afternoon.
