Child pornography charges laid against Saskatoon man

The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit says it has charged Gerhard H. Maynard with child pornography offences. An investigation of the 58-year-old Saskatoon man was launched in February 2016.

ICE identified an eastside address in the city where they believed child pornography offences were occurring.

On Thursday, a search warrant was executed at Maynard’s residence where he was arrested.

Police said they found child pornography videos in the process of being accessed, downloaded and uploaded to other Peer-to-Peer (P2P) file-sharing network users via Maynard’s computer.

He is facing charges of accessing, possession and making child pornography available to others.

The accused is expected to appear in Saskatoon provincial court Friday and be released on numerous conditions before his next court appearance on June 14.
