Let it never be said that Dana Milbank doesn’t follow through on his promises.
On Thursday night, the Washington Post columnist sat down to a nine-course meal prepared by one of Washington’s top chefs. It included falafel, steak, chilaquiles, a taco bowl, and one secret ingredient: part of the Oct. 4 edition of the Washington Post.
Millbank wrote a column that day titled “Trump will lose, or I will eat this column.” As the title suggests, Millbank made some pretty bold promises in his op-ed.
“I’m so certain Trump won’t win the nomination that I’ll eat my words if he does. Literally: The day Trump clinches the nomination I will eat the page on which this column is printed in Sunday’s Post,” Milbank wrote.

So on Thursday night, several days after Trump unofficially clinched the Republican nomination but well before his “official” nomination at the Republican convention in July, Milbank kept up his end of the promise.
The meal was prepared by Chef Victor Albisu, one of the top gourmet chefs in Washington, and included some of Milbank’s column in every course.
“Here we are at the Washington Post world headquarters for a very sad moment. I’m seated, ready to eat my words, literally, from what I wrote last Oct. 4 saying if Donald Trump wins the Republican nomination I would eat the page this column was written,” Milbank said.
And in case you were wondering, the wine served with each course?
Trump brand, of course.
