KELOWNA – Three notable local residents are receiving Okanagan College’s highest honour.
Anthony von Mandl, Bill Redmond and Rita Winkler will be named Honorary Fellows of the college.
von Mandl is the owner of the Mission Hill Family Estate winery and a member of the Order of British Columbia and the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame.
Redmond is the founder and retired president of food services company HRI Supply Ltd. and is currently a partner in Dockside Marine Centre.
“It’s an honour to be recognized by Okanagan College,” says Redmond in a college news release. “I was thrilled to be a part of the School of Business and came to realize what a wonderful institution we have right here in Kelowna.”
Winkler is a forest hydrologist whose scientific research, including a long-time watershed experiment in upper Penticton Creek, has helped guide the development of forest management practices.
Winkler says she’s thrilled to receive the honour.
“It is a privilege to be included in the group of Fellow recipients, a program that clearly highlights the College and President Hamilton’s commitment to acknowledge the contributions community members, employees and students all make to life in the Okanagan.”
The Honorary Fellow presentations will be made at June convocation ceremonies in Kelowna where the three recipients will address the graduates.
