A Toronto man is facing charges after a police tactical squad raided a Scarborough home and seized an what police described as an assault rifle and more than 2,500 rounds of ammunition.
The case began after police were called to a report of shots fired near Meadowvale Avenue and Dean Park Road in Scarborough on Monday afternoon. Police said no one was injured and the suspects fled.
Officers including the Emergency Task Force squad executed a search warrant at a home Wednesday, turning up a military-style rifle and some 2,500 rounds of various-calibre ammunition.
Kesworth Bassaragh, 24, faces 12 charges, including several firearms counts.
He’s due in court Thursday afternoon.
