New video posted online shows the terrifying moments some residents of Fort McMurray’s Beacon Hill neighbourhood fled as the wildfires ravaged the city.

The dashcam video was one of six captured by Michel Chamberland on Tuesday, which show vehicles lined up along a route exiting the city as flames torch trees and brush lining the road.

Embers and smoke can be seen filling the air as the cars struggle to escape the encroaching blaze.

At one point during the video, an alarmed deer can be seen running between cars towards the flames.

One of the other videos posted showing an alternate camera angle from the rear of the truck captured a pair of deer escaping the heat and fire.

Some viewers credited police and emergency workers for their efforts in helping residents make a quick escape.

“I was so touched when I saw the RCMP were directing the traffic in the heavy smoke,” posted Kai Dong.

More than 80,000 residents were forced to evacuate the city, and nearly 1,600 homes and buildings have been destroyed by the wildfires.
