A Vancouver arborist killed in a tree-cutting accident in Connaught Park last month is being remembered and honoured today.
Vancouver Park Board employee Jody Taylor, 43, died on March 31 while removing an unsafe tree at the park.

The park board will honour Taylor with a memorial tree and bench dedicated in his name. The city says the area near the memorial maple and bench is just steps away from the last large tree Taylor removed — a big-leaf maple on the shores of English Bay.
Taylor served on the Vancouver Park Board as an arborist for over 16 years.
The tree and bench dedication ceremony is taking place on the lawn between the former Fish House restaurant and the Lawn Bowling Club in Stanley Park at 4 p.m. today.
Vancouver Mayor, Gregor Robertson, Park Board chair Sarah Kirby-Yung and other city officials will be in attendance, along with Taylor’s brother.
Taylor left behind a 10-year-old daughter.
To mark the Day of Mourning for Persons Killed or Injured in the Workplace, all Canadian flags that are displayed on flagpoles at Park Board and City of Vancouver facilities will be flown at half-mast from sunrise to sunset.
