EDMONTON – Edmonton’s transportation committee didn’t vote on a recommendation by city administration Wednesday to make the Valley Line LRT expansion from downtown to Lewis Farms a top priority.
Administration delivered a report on LRT expansion which ranked the top 16 priorities.

The Valley Line expansion downtown to Lewis Farms would cost $1.8 billion, according to the report.
Metro Line expansion from NAIT to Blatchford North and Capital Line expansion from Century Park to Ellerslie are ranked second and third respectively.

Some councillors cried foul over why their area was not higher on the list.
A total of $9.5 billion worth of future LRT lines was ranked in order of priority.
Once the next phase of expansion is chosen, administration recommends the next step should be a staging plan for the design and construction.
Construction began last week of Phase 1 of the Valley Line from downtown to Mill Woods in the southeast. It’ll cost an estimated $1.8 billion.
