MONTREAL – A 19-year-old man is dead and a second person seriously injured after police say he lost control and rolled his vehicle in the small community of Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague, near Valleyfield in the Montérégie.
Sûreté du Québec (SQ) officers were called to the scene of the crash on du Pont Street at 2 a.m. Sunday.
According to police, the vehicle was heading south on du Pont when the driver lost control near the intersection of Saint-Joseph Street.
Sgt. Claude Denis with the SQ said the car rolled several times before hitting two trees and landing upside down near a resident’s home.
The 19-year-old driver and his 20-year-old male passenger were both taken to hospital, where the driver was pronounced dead.
The passenger suffered serious injuries but police said his life is not in danger.
