Calgary police are asking the public for help in identifying a man believed to be involved in a random home invasion that took place last month.
Between 9:45 and 10:15 p.m., on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, an unknown man rang the doorbell of a residence in the 0 to 100 block of Harvest Grove Green N.E.
When the elderly homeowner opened the door, the man brandished a weapon and forced his way into the home.
He took numerous items, including money and jewelry before fleeing the home. No one was injured.
The suspect is described as 5’10” tall and was wearing a black balaclava over his face, black gloves, black jacket, and dark blue or black pants.
Police said that prior to this incident, the same person may have attempted to gain entry to a neighbouring house where he was confronted by the male homeowner at the front door.
The suspect was not wearing a balaclava at the time and the homeowner was able to see his face.
Police created the composite sketch based on that encounter.
The Calgary Police Service encourages citizens to look through peep holes or windows prior to opening their doors and never open their doors to suspicious people.
Citizens can also consider installing an alarm system.
