Man shot outside Fort McMurray casino dies in Edmonton hospital

EDMONTON — Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 24-year-old man who was shot outside a Fort McMurrary casino earlier this month.

Wood Buffalo RCMP said Ahmed Khalif Mahamoud died in an Edmonton hospital Wednesday after a shooting outside the Boomtown Casino in the early morning hours of April 1.

At the time, witnesses told police they saw an individual running from the scene on Hardin Street toward Franklin Avenue.

Mahamoud’s death is under investigation by members of the Wood Buffalo RCMP detachment’s General Investigation Section (GIS) and Serious Crime Unit as well as investigators from the RCMP’s Major Crime Unit (MCU) from Edmonton.
