Woman shot dead in Cromdale apartment is Edmonton’s 19th homicide of 2016

EDMONTON —  A woman found dead in a central Edmonton apartment building has become the city’s 19th homicide victim of 2016.

The body of Nikita Lee Healy, 26, was found Wednesday afternoon in an apartment building across the street from Stadium LRT Station.

Edmonton police were called around 3:30 p.m. to an “assist Emergency Medical Services” call at 110 Avenue and 84 Street.

Healy’s body was reportedly found in an apartment suite inside the three-storey walkup near Commonwealth Stadium, in the Cromdale neighbourhood.

She was declared dead on scene, and the EPS Homicide Section took over the investigation.

An autopsy is determined she died of gunshot wounds.
