COLDSTREAM, B.C. – An Alberta based fuel distributer confirmed a former employee is responsible for a gas spill in Coldstream.
The 6,000 litre spill happened at Coldstream Centex gas station in November.

After an investigation initiated by G & B Fuels, negligence from the company’s driver was the determined to be the main cause.
“It was 100 per cent driver error,” said G & B Fuels president Greg Keffer.
Keffer said the driver didn’t follow the proper protocol and didn’t check how much space was in the tank before unloading the fuel, “which is a simple normal thing every truck driver that hauls fuel is painfully aware of.”
The driver has since been fired.
Keffer said as far as he knows all the fuel was contained on the gas station site but that the area is being thoroughly checked.
“We’re cleaning up our mess, making it right,” said Keffer. “We’re not hiding anything. We want it done properly it’s being done properly.”
Clean-up crews are expecting to wrap up their work in the next few days and the station is expected to reopen within the next week.
