MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact has stated its support for striker Didier Drogba after a report surfaced that his foundation was under investigation by Britain’s Charity Commission.

“The club completely supports Didier Drogba in all of his humanitarian and recognizes his exceptional contribution,” the Major League Soccer team said in a statement.

“As legal action is currently taken, the club will make no further comment.”
Drogba trained with the squad Thursday but did not comment.
A report in the Daily Mail in London said the Didier Drogba Foundation had spent only a tiny fraction of the money raised over the last five years in charitable works.

Drogba is taking legal action against the newspaper.
The foundation aims to build hospitals and educate children in Ivory Coast.
