VERNON, B.C. – An afternoon house fire was a spectacle on the horizon for residents of the north Okanagan town Wednesday.

Witnesses tell Global News the flames started at the back of the house in the 4700 block of Valleyview Place and moved onto the roof.
Smoke filled the sky above the Mission Hill neighbourhood of Vernon.
Flames could be seen filling the walk-out rancher.

The Vernon Fire Department says no one was injured and no one was home at the time of the blaze.
