Advance voting on the rise in Manitoba election

WINNIPEG — More Manitobans cast their ballot on the first three days of advance voting in the 2016 election compared to the 2011 election.

Elections Manitoba says 36,800 people voted. That’s 6,465 more than the turnout for the first three days of advanced voting for last Manitoba election.

“This is the third general election where people are given to the opportunity to advance vote at any location,” said Alison Mitchell of Elections Manitoba. “There is increasing awareness about the convenience of it.”

The top three busiest advance locations for first two days were:

  1. St. Vital Centre
  2. Garden City Shopping Centre
  3. Grant Park Shopping Centre

Advance voting continues today through to Saturday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
