WATCH: Green clouds, tennis ball-sized hail ravage parts of Texas

Severe storms ripped across parts of north Texas on Monday, leaving serious damage and injury in its wake.

Schools were closed in Wylie, north of Dallas, on Tuesday after the storm damaged numerous homes and cars.

The active weather was forecast for Monday. Severe thunderstorm warnings and watches, as well as tornado warnings, were issued in the afternoon as the storms quickly began to develop. However, no tornadoes were reported.

This is the beginning of the most active part of the severe storm and tornado season in the U.S. To date there have been 271 tornadoes across the country, with 138 occurring in February alone.

More storms are expected on Tuesday.
