MONTREAL – Two men are recovering in hospital after a head-on collision in the borough of Villeray-Saint-Michel-Park-Extension early Saturday morning.
According to police the collision happened at 1:15 a.m. when a SUV travelling southbound on Pie-IX Boulevard crossed the divider and crashed head-on with a city bus.
Police said the Société de Transport de Montreal (STM) bus was stopped at a red light at the moment of impact.
Two of the four occupants in the SUV, all in their 20s, were taken to hospital.
One of the victims suffered a serious hip injury, while the other required treatment for cuts from shards of glass.
Abudullah Emran spokesperson for Montreal police said that alcohol did not seem to be a factor in the crash.
The intersection at Pie-IX Boulevard and Villeray Street was closed for several hours as officers investigated. It has since been reopened to traffic.
