Nine-year old Jazira Urias remains in a lot of pain after she was attacked outside her Surrey home on Monday by the landlord’s pit bull.
“When he bit me, he didn’t let go,” she said from her hospital bed.
“He first got a little taste of my blood and when he bit me he didn’t let go. He started shaking his head and it hurt a lot.”
Her older brother Jorge was there when it happened.
“It was very frightening,” he said. “I was terrified. I just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible.”

Jazira’s wound is serious. Doctors are leaving it open for now, cleaning it often to prevent infection.
Her mother said she has been worried about the dog for a while.
“He said, ‘Don’t worry. He’s friendly. He only wants to say hi to her’ and I said, ‘Don’t do that.'”
The owners of the pit bull chose not to speak on camera but told Global News they do not intend to put the dog down. Instead they will muzzle the animal.
Jas Rehal with the City of Surrey said they are looking into the incident.
“It’s still very early on and we have to go through our process to determine our next steps,” he said.
Jazira said she has been having nightmares about the dog and is now scared to return home.
Her family strongly believes the pit bull should be destroyed.
