The incident happened on March 30 at 3:30 p.m. when a teenaged girl was travelling on a TTC bus in the area of Windermere Avenue and The Queensway.

Police say a male youth was sitting behind the victim when she noticed the smell of something burning.

She soon discovered pieces of her hair had fallen off, turned around and confronted the youth, police said.

Police say the boy became defensive and threatened to hurt the girl.

The youth got off the bus a short time later and fled the scene.

Police say the victim was shaken up but did not suffer any serious injuries.

A suspect was arrested on April 1 and charged with one count each of assault with a weapon, uttering threats and fail to comply with recognizance.
