A New Brunswick court has denied bail to Dennis Oland for a second time, following his conviction of second-degree murder in the death of his father Richard Oland.
In a written decision released today, the Court of Appeal of New Brunswick confirmed an earlier court decision to deny bail to Oland.

The 48-year-old Oland was sentenced to life in prison on Feb. 11 with no chance of parole for 10 years in the July 2011 murder.
Writing on behalf of the three-judge panel that heard the case, Chief Justice Ernest Drapeau says Oland failed to meet the case for reversal and the decision to deny bail was not unreasonable or the result of a material error of fact or law.
In a Feb. 17 decision Justice Marc Richard of the New Brunswick Court of Appeal said confidence in the justice system would be undermined if Oland was released.
In a statement from Connie and Lisa Oland, the two say the family will keep fighting despite this, and other set backs.
“While we are extremely disappointed with the decision of the Court of Appeal, we will continue our long legal battle by pursuing every option to prove Dennis’s innocence,” the statement reads.
“We know Dennis has been wrongly convicted and we will not rest until he is home and Dick’s killer is found.”

The appeal of Oland’s conviction is set to begin Oct. 18.
