As the great American philosopher Kenny Chesney once remarked, “It’s never easy to say goodbye.”

That’s certainly true for the first grader whose devastated, heartbroken reaction to learning U.S. President Barack Obama would be leaving office went viral last February.

Luckily for her, the commander-in-chief decided he’d rather say goodbye in person, inviting her and her family to the White House Tuesday for a face-to-face visit.

“Hey you!” Obama said upon greeting six-year-old Kameria Harris in a video released by the White House. “We invited you so you’d know it’d be OK.”

The girl first became a viral hit last February after her grandmother, Caprina D. Harris, posted a video to her Facebook page of Kameria learning the reality of the 22nd Amendment.

“I’m not ready for a new [president]!” she complains in the video as she sobs to her grandmother, who tries to console her.

Caprina goes on to explain that her granddaughter has only ever known one president her entire life, and even shares his birthday: Aug. 4.

Shortly after the video went viral, Obama himself replied in a comment to the young fan, asking her grandmother to “Dry those tears” because he’s “not going anywhere” and will soon be a “citizen, just like her.”

It was a theme the president continued upon meeting Kameria in person, asking if she’s “working hard in school” and telling her she had to “be a reader now.”
