About a hundred people are already lined up in front of the Tesla showroom on Robson Street in Vancouver this morning for their chance to pre-order the new Model 3 version of the famous electric car.

People can register for the new car at the dealership at 10 a.m. this morning and the new model will be unveiled at 8:30 p.m. in Los Angeles tonight.

Anyone who pre-registers will have to put down $1,000 as a deposit to secure an order on the first round of new vehicles. Online registration will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Some people were seen camping overnight outside the showroom in Vancouver.

People are also lining up around the world.

The Model 3 is expected to retail for about $35,000 US. It’s the company’s first mass-market electric vehicle.

Not much is known about the specifics of the car, aside from the fact that it will be the company’s most affordable model. It is expected to be a four-door sedan and have a range of about 480 kilometers.

CEO and product architect Elon Musk dropped a hint on what is about to be unveiled on Twitter.

Those in the line-up today will have to wait awhile before getting their hands on the wheel of the new car.

It’s believed the production will begin by late next year.
