MONTREAL – The Montreal Canadiens have agreed to terms with free-agent goaltender Charlie Lindgren of the St. Cloud State Huskies on a two-year, two-way contract.
General manager Marc Bergevin said that Lindgren will complete the season with the Canadiens.
“Lindgren was, in our mind, the best free-agent goaltender available coming out of the U.S. college level,” Bergevin said Wednesday in a release.
“Lindgren is a top goaltender coming out of college and becomes an excellent prospect for our organization, bringing some depth at this position.”
The 22-year-old Lindgren went 30-9-1 with St. Cloud this season.
He led NCAA goalies in wins (30), saves (1,020) and tied with two others in shutouts with five.
