A young man is dead after drowning in the waters of Lynn Canyon Monday afternoon. The recovery mission for the man’s body resumed Tuesday.
Crews were called out to the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge where witnesses say a young man, who jumped off the cliff near the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, was clinging to the rocks.
“He was still hanging from the rocks when the first responders got to the scene very shortly after that,” North Vancouver RCMP Sgt. Doug Trousdell said. “He hung on the rocks for almost half an hour but ultimately fell into the pool.”

Global News has learned the victim of Monday’s accident is Cole Marsh from Coquitlam.
After conducting an assessment Tuesday morning, it was determined that current water levels are too high to safely conduct a recovery of Marsh’s body. Rescue crews said water levels will continue to be monitored and a recovery will be attempted once water levels permit it.
The Lower Mainland District Urban Patrol helicopter and the North Vancouver Police boat will continue to monitor the creek beds and Burrard Inlet in an effort to locate the man.
The tragic accident comes after a busy weekend for search and rescue crews in Metro Vancouver.

Police hope the teen’s tragic death serves as a warning to others, especially those who cliff jump.
“We’ve got markers and plaques all around the park for people who have died in years past,” Trousdell said. “As many fences get put up, every year we have these incidents where people put themselves in risky situations.”
