Halton police officer injured in high-speed Highway 407 chase

BURLINGTON — A Halton police officer and a civilian are both in hospital after a collision sent the police cruiser into a ditch along Highway 407.

Police received the call just after 2 p.m. They said the cruiser began pursuing the other vehicle on Dundas Street and Guelph Line. The cars headed west on Highway 407 before crashing near Walkers Line.

The extent of the injuries for both the officer and the other driver are unknown.

Halton police are investigating the collision. The Special Investigations Unit is not involved at this time.

The westbound lanes of Highway 407 will remain closed for the ongoing investigation.
