A 24-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl are facing numerous charges after a gun was fired from one room into another at a motel in northern Alberta.
RCMP said officers were called to a High Level motel by the facility’s cleaning staff on March 5.
According to police, a man who was not in his room at that afternoon, returned to find bits of drywall and other debris isnide his room. He called the front desk to ask if any work was being done to his room and the hotel told him there wasn’t.
Cleaning staff were sent to inspect the room, at which point they noticed a bullethole and called police.
RCMP said officers quickly established the hole was made by a real handgun and that it was fired from the adjoining room. The occupants of the neighbouring room were then arrested.
Kyle Frazer Harvey of BC, and a 17-year-old girl, who cannot be named because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are facing five charges each including careless use of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Mounties said the accused were not cooperative with police and it still isn’t clear why a gun was fired in the motel.
