A burglar breaks into an electronics store via the roof, descends into the shop on a rope “Mission Impossible”-style, ransacks the store, and escapes the same way he came in.

At a glance, it sounds like the professional work of an expert thief. But video released by police in Brisbane, Australia casts the robbery in a somewhat different light.

According to a press release from the Queensland Police Service, an unidentified man broke into a computer store in the Brisbane suburb of Chermside at around 1:00 AM on March 7.

He entered the store via the roof, descending to the ground on a rope like Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt in the first Mission Impossible.

His plan hits a bit of a snag – literally – when he becomes tangled in the rope, falls off a table and onto the floor.

The man then rummages through the store, still somewhat encumbered by the rope. His search evidently proves fruitless as according to police, no property was stolen.

He then leaves the store the same way he came in – again, not without causing a little destruction first, tearing down sections of the roof as he tried to pull himself up the rope.

While trying to appeal to the public for information about the clumsy bandit, police decided to make a little fun of the bumbling burglar, adding what they call “spy music” over the security camera footage.
