EDMONTON — A 38-year-old Fort McMurray man was killed Monday afternoon when the snowmobile he was driving slammed into a tree in a remote area of northern Alberta.
The man was snowmobiling with a friend, who was operating another snowmobile, when the crash happened about 45 kilometres southeast of Fort McMurray.
An ambulance stationed at a nearby work site responded by snowmobile and provided medical aid to the man. Wood Buffalo RCMP and emergency services were also called to the crash at around 4 p.m.
The man sustained serious injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s name is not being released.
The crash is still under investigation.
