An investigation is underway after a dead dog that was shot in the head was found in a snowmobiler’s parking lot in the Shuswap this morning.

Chase RCMP Cst. Carl Kennedy said the dog was found in the Crowfoot Snowmobile Association members’ parking Lot, north of the community of Celista, at 8:30 a.m.

There were no ink markings or tags on the dog, but RCMP do have a licence plate from a vehicle that left the area earlier that morning.

Police said the dog wasn’t tortured before he was shot and killed.

The SPCA have been contacted, but are not officially investigating the incident yet.
