Several roads in the downtown core, including Rene-Lesvesque Boulevard between Guy and Peel Streets, were closed to traffic as a result and motorists were asked to plan ahead.

This is the 193rd parade to wind its way through the streets of Montreal, making it one of the oldest St. Paddy’s Day parades in North America.

With 108 groups taking part in this year’s event, it’s also one of the biggest parades on the continent.
