Woman charged with manslaughter in death of child at unlicensed daycare in Ontario

VAUGHAN, Ont. — York Region Police have charged a woman with manslaughter in connection with the death of a toddler nearly three years ago.

Police say they were called to an unlicensed home daycare in Vaughan on July 8, 2013 over a report that a two-year-old girl had no vital signs.

A few months after the death, two women, Olena Panfilova, 49 and Karina Rabadanova, 26, were charged with obstruction of justice.

Police allege the pair, both from Vaughan, interfered with the investigation and destroyed evidence.

Police say Panfilova was also charged with manslaughter on Thursday.

The two accused will appear in court next Tuesday on the allegations.
