Hundreds of B.C. truckers came out to show their support for the province’s liquefied natural gas industry on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, more than 500 trucks took part in an event in Fort St. John. They’re hoping the industry will bring jobs to B.C.
A number of local politicians came out in support with speeches and posts on social media.
Federal Environment and Climate Change Minister Catherine McKenna is expected to make a decision next week on the controversial $36 billion Pacific NorthWest LNG plant proposed near Prince Rupert.
On Wednesday, the National Energy Board announced it’s estimating B.C.’S Liard Basin – an area spanning the British Columbia, Yukon and Northwest Territories boundaries, contains 219 trillion cubic feet of marketable natural gas — enough to meet all of Canada’s demand for 68 years at 2014 consumption rates.
