CALGARY – Some Alberta small businesses say they want to see new provincial government incentives to boost job creation in a struggling economy.
Calgary’s Cappucino King has eight people on staff and is looking at hiring another employee but says it will only do so if the NDP government helps out.
“I think tax cuts would allow us to look at other avenues for training for opportunities to stimulate staff and to offer them better benefits to help them in this time of crisis,” Cappucino King owner Peter Izzo said.
Izzo’s plea comes as Premier Rachel Notley and Wildrose leader Brian Jean spar over job creation plans.
Notley said in a press conference Tuesday that she does not support the Wildrose strategy.
“We are going to have to agree to disagree but I believe that overall the approach that our government is taking to job creation and economic growth is a sound one,” Notley said.
The premier said details of her government’s job creation initiative will be rolled out in the provincial budget on April 14.
