SASKATOON – Detectives believe a person involved in two armed robberies is in custody. A 28-year-old man is facing charges in regards to the thefts in Saskatoon last fall.
The first occurred on Oct. 24, 2015 at a store in the 3700-block of Diefenbaker Drive. Three masked people armed with a hammer stole cigarettes No arrests were made.

The other robbery took place around midnight on Oct. 27, 2015 at a convenience store in the 3300-block of 33rd Street West. Staff reported two masked people armed with what appeared to be shotguns stole cigarettes and then fled in a minivan.
Officers were able to locate the getaway vehicle which evaded police and then hit a fence on Cartier Crescent. Two suspects got away but a 20-year-old woman was arrested.
As a result of further investigation of both robberies, the man is facing offences such as robbery, wearing a disguise, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and six firearms-related charges.
The man is expected to appear in court on these charges at a later date. Police say he’s been remanded to custody on other matters.
The armed robberies are still under investigation.
